The ITU Team World Championship is a new race that took place for the first time in Des Moines (USA) in 2009. Lausanne is lucky to welcome this World Championship for the second consecutive year wherein the Swiss Team will defend the title for the third time. 30 international teams are already registered and, like the Dextro Energy Triathlon World Championship Series, you can watch Team race on Sunday 21st August live directly on-site or on TV:

Each country will be allowed to enter two relays of four athletes (two men and two women). The teams will compete in the order of female-male-female-male. Each athlete will complete a 265-metre swim (1 lap), 5km bike (1 lap) and 1.2km run (1 lap). After each athlete finishes his or her swim-bike-run segment he or she will tag the next athlete in the relay to make the exchange.
Swim : 0.265km - 1 lap
The start is in the form of a pontoon start. There is one lap to swim.
Bike : 5km - 1 lap
There is one lap of 4.9km to ride on a 100% secured circuit and a very good tarmac surface. The route is technically demanding due to many changes of direction with three turns and a 10.5% climb.
Run : 1.2km - 1 lap
Flat course with a nice part along the lake. There are one lap of 2.5km to run. Very good tarmac surface.
